The Crantock Bale Push is back as competitors compete in this fundraiser which has raised over £150,000 over the last 25 years.
This year’s event is set to be bigger and better than ever, supporting Cornwall Blood Bikes, Penhaligon’s Friends, and other local groups and organisations.
Taking place from 5pm, the event promises an afternoon and evening full of thrills, as teams of four get ready to roll a massive round straw bale through the village. The fun kicks off at 5pm with the junior teams, starting with the 8 and Under category, followed by the 12 and Under, and 16 and Under. Then, the Ladies' event will see competitors racing over shorter distances. From around 7:30pm, the real challenge begins as teams in the Open and the 180’s categories, push the full-size straw bale, measuring 4’ 6” in diameter and weighing approximately 420lbs, over a quarter of a mile course through the village, navigating both uphill and downhill, from one village pub to the other.
Adding to the festivities, organisers welcome back 1940s Crooner, Andy Marshall, who will provide live entertainment in the early evening. As the night progresses, both the Old Albion and The Cornishman pubs will keep the energy high with live music from Black Velvet and The Quest.
To date, the Bale Push has raised an incredible £151,500, all of which has gone directly to supporting Cornish causes.
Teams can enter on the evening, with a £10 fee for adult teams and £5 for children’s teams. Parking is available at the Village Hall.
