Radio Newquay is Newquay’s very own local radio station, created for the town, by people who know and love it - and listened to by more than 1 in 3 people in the town every week.

We first went on air on 16th September 2018, founded by Mark Chapple, Sarah Bunt and Matt Bunt, who brought with them years of experience working in larger commercial radio stations locally and nationally. The idea was simple: to create a genuinely local radio station that sounded great, celebrated Newquay and gave a voice to the people, organisations, businesses and events that make our town what it is.

Since then, Radio Newquay has become firmly established as part of the fabric of the community. Today, around one in three people in Newquay listen to us each week, tuning in for a lively mix of great music, local news, information, entertainment and conversation about the things happening right here on our doorstep.

Music is a huge part of Radio Newquay. We play a broad mix of familiar favourites from across the decades, alongside some of the biggest songs of today. Our aim is simple: plenty of songs you know and love, a few you might not have heard for a while, and the kind of music that sounds just right whether you’re at work, in the car, at home or enjoying everything Newquay has to offer.

Alongside the music, our programmes are packed with features, competitions, local information, listener interaction and plenty of personality. We keep you up to date with what’s happening around Newquay, share local events and community news, speak to the people making things happen in the town and give local organisations a platform to tell their stories.

Being local is at the heart of everything we do. We’re proud to champion Newquay’s businesses, charities, community groups, sports clubs, events and the brilliant people who make a difference across the town. From celebrating good news and promoting local events to sharing important information when our community needs it most, Radio Newquay is here to keep Newquay connected.

Our presenters know the area because they live here too. That means Radio Newquay sounds like Newquay: friendly, familiar and full of local character. We want listeners to feel part of the station, whether they’re getting in touch with a message, entering a competition, joining in with a feature or simply listening along to their favourite songs.

Radio Newquay is powered by a dedicated team of people who give their time, enthusiasm and experience to the station, alongside the fantastic support of local businesses, organisations and listeners. That support allows us to continue doing what we love: providing Newquay with a radio station it can truly call its own.

We’re incredibly proud of how far Radio Newquay has come, but we never take the privilege of serving our town for granted. Newquay is our home, our audience and our community — and we’re proud to be its local radio station.
