Consultation launched over proposed parking restriction changes in Porth

The existing restriction operates between 9am and 9pm between May and September.

Under the proposal, the restriction would instead apply from 1 March to 31 October and would be in place 24 hours a day throughout that period.

The proposal follows reported concerns that the existing seasonal yellow lines are regularly covered by sand - making the restrictions difficult to see. The consultation also states this "has been leading to inappropriate and obstructive parking near the beach access".

If introduced, the new restriction would be signed at the entrances to the zone, with repeater signs provided throughout the area. The consultation says: "This means there will be no need for road markings (yellow lines), which can become covered by sand and difficult to see. This will reduce ongoing maintenance requirements and allow for more robust enforcement. Changing the restriction to operate 24 hours a day will also prevent parking early and late in the day, including overnight, in this popular area during the tourist season."

The consultation is open until midnight October 23rd, 2026.
