Crantock Bale Push donates £20,000 to good causes

The organisers of the annual Crantock Bale Push have announced that this year’s event raised £20,000 for local causes.

Held in September, the event saw 132 teams push giant hay bales around a set course, cheered on by enthusiastic spectators who gathered to enjoy the unique spectacle.

At a presentation evening at the Bowgie Inn, cheques were handed to numerous charities and community groups. Penhaligon’s Friends and Cornwall Blood Bikes each received £7,000, boosted by matched funding from Visa and contributions from the Bale Push Committee and sponsors.

Additional donations were presented to various community groups, including Crantock Village Hall, Newquay Hockey Club, Heart of Headland, Crantock Rowing Club, Prickles and Paws Hedgehog Rescue, Crantock Methodist Church, Crantock Memorial Hall, and local schools and sports clubs.

The committee expressed thanks to its sponsors, advertisers, and the Crantock community for their support and "continued tolerance."

Since its inception in 2000, the Bale Push has raised over £170,000 for local causes. The event is set to return on Friday, 12th September 2025.
