Firefighters were called to the former Hotel California tonight, for the second time in six months.
Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service say "A 999 call was received at 18:00 to a report of smoke coming from the rear of a derelict hotel beside the Gannel river"
In a statement, the service said two fire appliances from Newquay were dispatched to Pentire Crescent, and upon arrival, crews confirmed there was a fire at the rear of the building, which resulted in additional resources being called. Two more appliances from St Columb and St Dennis were mobilised, along with support vehicles from St Just and St Austell. Firefighters used breathing apparatus and hose reels to tackle the fire. In a further update the fire was declared as being extinguished shortly before 7pm and all appliances returned to their home stations.
Hotel California was the scene of a major fire at the end of June, which saw 10 appliances from across Cornwall respond.
