Main lifeguard season ends this weekend

The RNLI is reminding beachgoers that the main lifeguard season ends this weekend.

After Sunday, several beaches will only be patrolled on weekends throughout October and during the half-term holiday. These include Watergate Bay, Mawgan Porth, Towan and Crantock.

Lifeguard cover will remain in place at four Cornish beaches, including Fistral and Perranporth, with daily patrols continuing until Sunday, 3 November.

The lifesaving charity is advising people to visit patrolled areas along the coast and always swim or bodyboard between the red and yellow flags.

RNLI Regional Lifeguard Lead for the South West, Henry Saddler-Irvine, expressed his gratitude to the lifeguard teams: “This Sunday marks the end of our main lifeguard season for 2024. I’d like to thank our lifeguards for their hard work throughout the season, keeping people safe while they enjoy the coast.”

He also highlighted the dedication and skill of the teams who responded to numerous incidents and delivered critical care throughout the season.
