Man dies after being pulled from the sea

A man has died at Crantock after his body was recovered from the sea.

Police say they were called by the Coastguard around 8:40 am to reports of a male in the water at Crantock.

Both of Newquay's lifeboats were dispatched to the scene of the incident.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said:

"Sadly, despite the best efforts of emergency services, the man, who was in his 60s, died at the scene. His next of kin have been informed."

Police say his death is not being treated as suspicious, and a file will be prepared for the coroner.

A dog was also recovered from the water and taken to a vet for treatment.
