Newquay bar to close this weekend

Newquay’s Slug and Lettuce pub is set to close its doors this Saturday, as part of a planned transition to a new chapter for the venue.

Owner Stonegate Pubs has confirmed the closure will be temporary, as part of a move to a new site arrangement. The Gover Lane venue originally opened in 2020, taking over the building previously occupied by the Cribbar Wetherspoons.

A spokesperson for Stonegate Group said:
"Today, we have announced the temporary closure of Slug & Lettuce Newquay as it transitions to a new site. The venue will be closing its doors for a short period from Saturday June 14th. After this closure period, the venue will be reopening with a fresh new look with a new publican in place."

Radio Newquay understands the site is moving from the Slug & Lettuce brand to Stonegate Pub Partners, which is the group’s lease and tenanted division.

More details about the reopening and future plans for the site are expected to follow.
