Sand clearance work will take place at Porth Beach next month. Cormac says the routine beach management programme will begin on Tuesday 3 June.
The Cornwall Council-owned contractor says the work, which is expected to be completed by Friday 6 June, is necessary to address the build-up of windblown sand along the coastline. Accumulated sand can affect nearby properties, restrict public access to the beach, and obstruct traffic on the adjacent highway.
To mitigate these issues, sand will be moved into mounds along the edge of the stream channel - a method Cormac says will allow the sand to gradually resettle back onto the beach naturally over the following two to three weeks, depending on weather conditions.
Public access will be managed throughout the operation to ensure safety. Beachgoers are asked to follow on-site signage and respect any temporary restrictions in place while the work is carried out.
Cormac says it hopes to minimise disruption and complete the clearance as quickly as possible.
