A Newquay business group is encouraging visitors not to stay away from the town during Boardmasters week, saying outdated perceptions about congestion are affecting trade.

Residents are being invited to come together for a community celebration in Nansledan this weekend as The Big Lunch and Big Help Out return to the growing Newquay neighbourhood.

Passenger journeys on the Mid Cornwall Metro route increased by almost 25 per cent in the first week of the new service, according to rail operator Great Western Railway.
