Man rescued from cliffs in Newquay

A man has been rescued from a cliff in Newquay after emergency services were called to reports of someone stuck between Newquay Harbour and Towan Beach.

The alarm was raised at about 1:20pm on Wednesday, with the Newquay Coastguard Rescue Team, HM Coastguard Padstow, Newquay RNLI lifeboats and Coastguard rescue helicopter 924 all sent to the scene.

Coastguards said a technical rope rescue was carried out, and the man was brought safely to the top of the cliff without injury.

The service thanked all those involved in the operation and reminded the public to call 999 and ask for the Coastguard if they see anyone in difficulty along the coastline.
