New radios boost beach safety and security

Beach safety in Newquay is being enhanced with the rollout of new security radios, part of a wider initiative to deter anti-social behaviour, underage drinking, and low-level crime.

The project is being led by Newquay Business Improvement District (BID), with funding support from the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner.

The addition of this technology builds on Newquay’s strong safety network, which already includes extensive CCTV coverage, visible town ranger patrols, and close police collaboration.

“These radios are a fantastic addition to our community safety toolkit,” said Mark Warren, Newquay BID Manager. “They will help ensure quicker response times, better coordination, and a stronger deterrent presence, keeping our residents, local businesses, and visiting tourists safe throughout the year.”

As well as being used on local beaches, further radios are being issued along Newquay’s high street to support the town centre, particularly during the busy summer months.
