Five people and two dogs have been rescued after a cliff fall in Newquay.
Emergency services were alerted at around 3pm on Saturday after a section of cliff collapsed onto the coast path between the Fly Cellars and the Huers Hut.
Newquay Coastguard Rescue Team, Newquay RNLI Lifeboats, Devon & Cornwall Police, Cornwall Fire & Rescue and Cormac all attended the scene.
An eyewitness said they and a friend were below the path when the collapse happened, with three other people also in the area. All five became stuck and had to call Newquay RNLI for assistance, but no one was injured. They were taken taken to safety via the fishing platform by the RNLI.
Devon & Cornwall Police said in a statement:
Emergency services are currently at the scene of a significant cliff fall in Newquay.
Police were called at 2.55pm today, 31 January, after part of the cliff collapsed in the King Edward Crescent area.
HM Coastguard, the police helicopter and the fire service are also in attendance at the incident.
Five people and two dogs were trapped at the top of the cliff and were rescued by the Coastguard. They were not injured.
The public footpath has been closed and a cordon is in place in the area.
Members of the public are being asked to avoid the area for their own safety.
A spokesperson for the Newquay Coastguard Search and Rescue Team said the affected section of coast path is now impassable and urged members of the public to avoid the area for the time being.
The area was cordoned off while emergency teams carried out checks, and all services have now left the scene.
